In February 2009 I took the biggest risk of my life. I left my job as a journalist for The Star newspaper in Joburg and moved to Perth after being offered a reporting job here.
Before my sojourn Down Under, I was a Journalist in one of the toughest cities in the world.
I walked into crime infested settlement in places like Alexandra and interviewed some of the world's poorest. No sooner had the ink dried and I would be 10 kms's away in Sandton where oppulance and wealth were displayed like badges of honour.
I covered stories about ordinary people. About love, life and death.
I followed intensely the actions of robbers who terrorised people arriving at the Airport and ruffled the feathers of the SA police force. I once perched myself on roof and exposed a smash and grab robber who reigned terror on motorists at a busy intersection. Life as reporter in Joburg was exhilirating.
I now find myslef in Perth which by some people's account is the most boring place in Australia.
I don't know about that.
I plan to investigate...
This is my story.
